Alright, this is a bit of a serious post, since as time passes and we get closer to Obama in the White House, I grow a bit more worried. I want to just say right now, that I am a gun owner, and proud of it. I own several collectable rifles, and a few of what groups like the Brady Campaign may term an ‘assault rifle’ though by my state law they aren’t.

That said, all gun owners face tough times, no matter how he phrases it, it’s pretty much a commonly known fact that Obama is against firearm ownership in some form or another. I obviously am OPPOSED to gun bans of any type. Afterall, it’s already a crime to use a gun in a crime, so what difference will adding more laws make? The criminals already BREAK the laws, prosecute them to the full extent of the law, but don’t restrict those that already own and use guns legally. Also, don’t punish us for having a hobby. There’s been talk of various ammunition bans, restrictions, taxes, and legal requirements, all of which will make ammo harder to get, impossible to get, or a lot more expensive to get. That’s not fair to those of us that just get ammo to go to the range, pop some rounds off at a target, or those of us that go to an area that allows hunting, and well, hunt.

I’m afraid quite honostly, about what may happen in the near future. I’m 18, I have very little faith in the direction our government is headed, and am quite idealistic about how our government could and should be. Hell of a life to be leading already isn’t it? Well, that said, I’m hopeful that more gun owners will come out of the woodwork and start voicing their opinions loudly and  tell the new administration not to punish those of us who are obeying the laws already. I personally think the best ways to do this are to write your politicians! Call them even! Don’t know the  addresses or numbers? Heres a tool that should help a bit http://www3.capwiz.com/mygov/dbq/officials

Also, join a pro gun group, like it or not, our government is run by money and the desire to stay in power, groups like the NRA, (of which I’m a life member already) do help, and they show the true support of gun owners for gun rights. So come on people, if you believe in the right to keep and bear arms, prove it, do something to show it!

Well, it looks like Obama won, McCains giving his speech to concede the race, and of course, Alaska doesn’t even get to report in before the race is over, and of course, if you look at the way I voted, only one of the people I voted for won (Democrat Beth Bye) Of course, I voted the popular way on Question 1 & 2 it seems though. Well, 4 years of Obama, here’s hoping he doesn’t screw up the country more then McCain would have!

Well, I went to the polls, and voted already today. Got there before 6am when they opened, and the only real confusion was due to the fact that two districts vote at the same place in my town, leading to two different lines, which inconveniently enter the polling place in the same hallway. But that wasn’t overly bad and I bubbled in my votes (Felt like I was taking a scantron quiz, and on top of it my polling place is my old high school, geez…) And then fed it into the machine, got my little sticker, and left. I was home by 6:20, and well you’ll be able to see what time this was written to compare.

I haven’t hidden it before, so for those of you in Connecticut that give a damn about how I voted it was the following:

Question 1: No            Question 2: Yes         Question 3: No (This was a specific to my town)

President: McCain/Palin

National Representative: David Cappiello

State Senator: Joseph Merritt

State Representative: Beth Bye
