That strongly? Wow…. Looks like I was right, there won’t be a non-violent solution to this….all that remains to be seen is whether the crackdown leads to a revolution, or cowering. I’ve been following these events a bit, not closely by anymeans, but it’s hard to MISS the news related to it afterall, and it has me a bit concerned. From what I know, there’s a bit of…unrest, to put it lightly, in Iran after the election. The supporters of the primary opposition to Ahmadinejad aren’t happy they lost, and may very well have good cause to be angry as it IS possible the election was rigged….however at this point whether it was or not seems rather irrelevent… With the various marches and protests, I can only see this going downhill FAST. Theres already reports of those protesting being arrested, some killed, etc etc, by the government… That is a key thing right there, it’s being proven that the government is NOT going to roll over, do a recount and ensure there was no fraud, and have Ahmadinejad step down if it’s proven he truly lost…Thus these non-violent protests seem a bit…pointless. It certainly gets their point across, but if their point will be ignored, and lead to their own deaths, is this route really WORTH it? I honestly believe that this will end in one of three ways, a strict government crackdown, leading to many more deaths, and arrests on the protestors side, scaring the protestors into conforming to the will of the government… The same crackdown stated above, however leading to a full armed uprising of the people against the government… Or, an armed uprising before the crackdown begins… None of those options sound overly appealing to me, however I’m personally hoping for the third option, I don’t foresee this ending non-violently, so I’d personally rather see the route that leads to the peoples will being done, but with fewer useless deaths… That’s just me though, maybe somehow this WILL end non-violently, and with the peoples will done, it’s possible I suppose, I just don’t really see it happening. Time will tell though, time will tell… Well, just got done reading another story about how it’s suspected that North Korea is going to attempt to nuke Hawaii, and how such an act, and I quote, “would be a brazen slap in the face of the international community”. Granted, they said this after saying it’s suspected the missle wont manage to get anywhere near us…nevertheless though… Seriously, I think an attempt at nuking someone is a bit more then a slap in the face…most people would consider it a declaration of war…. Of course, that assumes that we were dealing with people with even a slight amount of brain power. However, we’re not. We’re talking about the U.N. the most worthless group of idiotic politicians ever assembled. They talk, talk, whine about certain countries acts, try to look important, and every now and then ‘punish’ a country by imposing trade sanctions…. Too bad trade isn’t exactly the primary staple of North Korea, but rather the humanitarian aide is, the aide that would NEVER be cut off….the aide that is distributed to the people by the government of the country making them appear to be the saviour of the people….yea, those sanctions are REALLY hurting the country…. Perhaps if the U.N. stopped, disbanded, and was replaced by people capable of intelligent thought, we could actually peacefully cripple North Korea by causing uprisings by a starved desperate people, perhaps we could just give a warning of ‘every attempt to nuke someone else will be met with you being nuked’. Hell, maybe even a cruise missle into some military targets everytime they make a threat. You know, force, the only thing they’ll understand. No however, our choice is to put trade sanctions into place….because clearly, they’re working! Well, for those that didn’t realize, today is the anniversary of D-Day, since I get a feeling that no one who reads this blog fought in WWII, I just want to ask any readers to remember to thank any and all Vets in general. I also ask that you think back on the sacrifices that many men made to help ensure that a great evil was stopped, and to give freedom to many people that did nothing wrong other then to be unfortunate enough to have traits that one man especially disliked. |
